Tornado Shelters

Russell Babb Elementary School, 20901 NE 10th and the First Baptist Church, 2185 Church Ave. will be opened as tornado shelters during severe weather.   In the event of severe weather during the day the shelter at Russell Babb will give precedence to students but will be open to all residents during non-school hours.  Please remember smoking and pets are not allowed at either shelter at any time.
Volunteers Still Needed

The CERT (Certified Emergency Response Team) program is currently accepting applications for volunteers.  In the event of a disaster in the Harrah area, this team will be called out to assist in a variety of areas.  From heavy equipment operators to medically trained personnel to traffic control, if you are interested in helping out in your community during times of disaster or special events, please contact Det. Dawn Davis at 454-1203.  Applications can be downloaded here and are also available at the Police Dept., 1900 Church Ave.
Drug Drop Off Boxes Are A Huge Success

Every year, more Oklahomans die from prescription overdoses than every street drug combined. The Bureau of Narcotics says a major source of those drugs is the medicine cabinet.

One year ago the first Drug Drop Box furnished and maintained by OBN was installed at the Harrah Police Dept.  There are now approximately 118 boxes installed in Police and Sheriff Departments statewide.  More than 6,000 pounds of these potentially dangerous drugs have been collected by OBN through these boxes. Those drugs made their way to Covanta Energy in west Tulsa who then disposes of the medications at no cost to the state, keeping them off the streets and out of our waterways.
The Harrah drug drop off box is available from 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

OBN is not able to take syringes, liquids or inhalers.

If you need further information on eligible items, please contact the Harrah Police Department at 454-1203.
